Method
Shake all ingredients with crushed ice and double strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with cherry.

AKA Bartender’s Handshake. The Savoy Cocktail Book omits creme de violette, but as The Educated Barfly notes, it's an original ingredient and has become the defining note of the cocktail for the faded blue color that it imparts.
