Ingredients:
- 3 dashes walnut bitters
- ¼ oz pumpkin syrup
- 1 barspoon allspice dram
- 2 oz apple brandy
Garnish: basil leaf
Glassware: Old-fashioned

Method
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain over a large rock of clear ice and garnish with basil leaf or sprig.

I had a huge planter full of cinnamon basil and thought it would play well as a warming spice in this autumn-style old fashioned. What’s more, my pumpkin syrup was generously spiced, adding hints of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, and ginger.
