Winter Basil Smash

Ingredients:

Garnish: basil leaf

Method

Set aside one basil leaf as garnish. In a shaker, muddle remaining basil leaves with lemon juice and simple syrup. Add aquavit and ice cubes, shake, and double strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice cubes.

I used Thai basil for the drink pictured along with a split base of Malteser and Aalborg Dild to get both strong dill and caraway flavors out of the aquavit.
